Dunnottar Winter Sunrise
Down at Dunnottar this morning..... chill winds were blowing, but the sunrise was briefly bonny!

Findochty Fireball
The glowing ball of the sun slips below the horizon in the Moray Firth, providing some subtle light on the weathered sandstone rocks. The long exposure adds to the somewhat surreal scene.

Balmy Neist Point
A calm evening on the cliffs at the Neist Point Lighthouse on Skye. The furthest westerly point on the island.

Fiery Mellon
In the pre dawn light, the colours are at their strongest an hour before sunrise at this wonderful little beach at Mellon Udrigle in Wester Ross.

Aberdeen Wave
Big seas closed Aberdeen harbour today, and it made for some spectacular images.

Rail Bridge Over Forth Estuary
The mighty Forth Rail Bridge, king of all bridges, resplendent in its new coat of paint after years of being masked by scaffolding and tarpaulins is finally revealed in all its glory. It is an amazing feat of civil engineering on a huge scale. Work commenced on its construction in 1883 and was completed in 1890.

Gruinard Waves
Almost abstract in form the way that the waves and the sand ripples interact on the wonderful beach at Gruinard Bay.

Mellon Udrigle Dawn 2
A glorious day dawned on my favourite sandy beach in Wester Ross. Only the midges contrived to spoil my enjoyment of such a wondrous day dawning.

Burghead Sunset
The clouds break up just enough to provide an interesting, if not dramatic effect at sunset. The was short lasted though, just enough for a couple of exposures.
Burghead Sunset
Findhorn Ripples
Appealing colours in this sunset at the mouth of the Findorn estuary here it enters the Moray Firth. The long exposure smoothes out the sea and adds to the calm of the image.

Crovie 4 Portrait
The coastal village of Crovie, pronounced "Crivvie", is the only village in Scotland without a road passing through it. Between the cliffs and the sea, there is only enough room for one house and a footpath. There is a road to the far end of the village, but all supplies have to be brought in to the houses on foot, or by wheeled push trollies!

Pennan Morning Landscape 1
Strung out like beads on a a necklace, the white washed cottages nestle beneath the cliffs at Pennan on a pristine late August morning. Pennan was one of the locations for the 1970's cult (well hereabouts anyway!) movie Local Hero.
